Touring and traveling to another country is very interesting, especially if you decide to bike your way in. A bike tour can be a traditional tour with guides and other people, or something you undertake with friends or alone. While riding on a bike might conjure up images of a super cyclist athlete riding long distances, you don’t need to be that.
Anyone can ride a bike and go on bicycle tours belmont, and riding one for long distances simply requires training. Build up your muscles by riding a certain distance every day, and eventually start carrying the backpack or gear you’ll have on your trip. You should ideally start training three months before the trip, that way your muscles will have time to adjust.
Next, map out your route by looking for low traffic. You don’t want to be stuck in traffic or deal with slow-moving cars, so take advantage of your bike. Find dirt roads, shoulders, and other roads where cars can’t or don’t go, and use them to your advantage. It might take you a little longer to get there, but you’ll also avoid extra time spent in traffic.
Finally, you need to think about the gear you are carrying. You’ll typically need either panniers, which are racks that attach to the sides of your bike, or trailers, which are wagons you can pull behind you. Depending on the size of your gear and the terrain you plan to cross, one will be better than the other. Panniers are good for rugged terrain, with less gear, while trailers can carry more gear but are better on flat terrain.
Once you have all the essentials, figure out where you want to bike too and get going! A good bike tour will be an experience you won’t forget.
